I’ve been finding myself more drawn to bands with lots of members/instruments lately (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Cloud Cult, etc.) which I’ve decided is the explanation behind my recent interest in crowd participation at shows, despite being fairly against sing-alongs. When I was at a Wailin’ Jennys concert a few weeks ago, they finished up by asking the crowd to help sing “One Voice” which sounded pretty amazing. I couldn’t find any vidoes that really exemplified the awesomeness the way sitting in the 900th row of the O’Shaughnessy Auditorium and hearing everyone sing along did, but this is the song I’m talking about.
I recorded two songs at last night’s show.
- Eric Anderson of Cataldo, with The Cedar crowd. Cataldo – My Heart is Calling
- Laura Veirs with Cataldo and Old Believers. (Didn’t like this one as much.) Laura Veirs & Co. – To the Country
And a video clip of…something that occurred during the opening acts. There was some discussion afterwards about whether or not this was Serious. The first two songs were somewhat humorous but by this song, it was a little hard to tell.
And for good measure, some Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. (Seriously, if you can listen to them and not get happy, you are dead inside.)
(I don’t even like YouTube videos. I don’t know what got into me. Sorry.)
