Tonight was Cloud Cult’s cd release show for their new album Light Chasers. They’re playing another (all-ages) show tomorrow night at First Ave if you are sorry you missed it. And you probably should be.
Fort Wilson Riot opened.
At every show, they have two artists who each paint a canvas, which are both auctioned off at the end of the night. This is Scott West. Someday, I will win one of his paintings.

I recorded some video, too, but the show was so loud that the audio cut out a few seconds into the recording. Oops.
The sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma.
If you’ve been around the blog for awhile, you might remember that last year, I got to photograph They Might Be Giants performing at First Ave. Earlier this year, I got a voicemail from someone who mentioned that they’d seen some photos of mine online and, um, they were in a band, and…could I contact them about using the photos? It was Marty Beller, drummer for They Might Be Giants. I did a lot of squeeing and running around sputtering about famous people calling meeee on the phone.
Fast forward to this fall when TMBG came back to First Avenue for their Flood 20th Anniversary Show. Flood is actually the first album I ever bought on cd so when the kind Mr. Beller asked if I wanted to come to the show, I said yes, please! It was on my birthday, no less. It was a terrific show and so much fun to find that I remembered all the words to songs I had listened to so often when I was younger.
